Biography

Ulrike Stein received her Diploma degree from the Martin-Luther University Halle, Germany and has completed her Ph.D. from the Humboldt University Berlin. For her postdoctoral studies, she joined the lab of Dr. R.H. Shoemaker at the National Cancer Institute/NIH Frederick MD as Feodor-Lynen-fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt foundation. She received her habilitation from the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin and was 2009 appointed as professor. She heads the research group of Translational Oncology of Solid Tumors at the Experimental and Clinical Research Center, Charité Universitätsmedizin and Max-Delbrück-Center for Molecular Medicine in Berlin. Her research is focused on understanding and intervening in tumor progression and cancer metastasis formation. She has published more than 130 papers in reputed journals. She is contributing to scientific consortia, is serving as editorial board member of several journals and societies, and acts as the reviewer for journals and funding organizations. She received various national and international scientific awards.
